Inn Port Bed and Breakfast & Suites in Dayton, Ohio - Desintation Review

We recently had the opportunity to travel to Dayton, Ohio for the very first time, to help a couple of our dearest friends celebrate their wedding.

Since this was our first trip to Dayton, we wanted to find the perfect place to stay.  We always prefer staying at Inns and Bed and Breakfasts over hotels because we love the at home atmosphere.  During my search I stumbled upon the Inn Port D'Vino Bed and Breakfast.  It looked perfect!  The building was historical and gorgeous, located in the old historic district of downtown Dayton.  And when I emailed the innkeeper about booking a room for two nights, she was so friendly and inviting, I just knew this was the place to stay!

The Inn Port is owned and run by Leslie and Jeff Gonya.  When I first spoke to Leslie in person it was like I was getting together with and old friend to catch up.  She was so delightful and so welcoming that I knew we would feel right at home at the Inn Port.   The Inn Port D'Vino Bed and Breakfast is a beautiful Victorian home that was built in 1877 by Dayton's master builder, John Rouzer.   He is credited for building many of Dayton's historical buildings.

We stayed in the Champagne Suite and I must tell you, this is not your typical room.  We literally had what felt like a house all to ourselves!  It was cozy and clean and so spacious!  You wouldn't believe the space we had all to ourselves and the room rate is fantastic!

We had a living room and dining area, large bedroom with a cozy king sized bed, a full sized kitchen, bathroom and a hot tub room!

One of favorite parts about our suite, was the fact that we had our own full kitchen.  Complete with everything we needed!

There was a full sized refrigerator and freezer, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven, full sized oven and stove and of course sink for dishes.

The kitchen had pots and pans and all of the cooking utensils we would need if we wanted to cook along with dishes and silverware.  The kitchen also came fully stocked with food items for breakfast, snacks and soda as well.   There were bagels and English muffins, jellies and other condiments, as well as yogurt, eggs, orange juice and milk, bottled water and soda.  In the cabinets we had cereal and pop tarts.  I decided to make my husband breakfast in bed while we were there and it was delightful!  Its been a long time since we were able to sit and have a nice quite breakfast together at the table.   It was a true home away from home experience!
The other thing we loved about our suite.....was the hot tub!  Full sized hot tub and in a separate hot tub room with lights you could dim, a CD player to play relaxing music and plenty of aromatherapy.

With an 8 month old at home, its hard enough for me to find time at home to take a quick bath, let alone a bubble bath.  I'm pretty much restricted to a 5 minute shower.  So being able to soak and relax in the hot tub every night before bed was just amazing!  I came home feeling so refreshed and rejuvenated!

The main part of the building, where the rest of the suites and rooms are located, has a beautiful sitting room where you can sit, read, relax and enjoy the fireplace and play a few old records.

There is also a large dining room fully stocked with breakfast foods, snacks, coffee, a refrigerator stocked with goodies, beverages and its all included in your stay.  There is plenty of room for seating to sit and enjoy your coffee, meal and enjoy the morning paper.

There is plenty of parking for guests and the parking is off street.  The Inn Port B+B is located along a residential street in the historic district so the surrounding homes are just lovely!  And its just around the corner from the shops and restaurants in the historic district.  Its literally a one minute walk to the shops!

The Inn Port is also the home of Deaf Monte's Wine Bar, a cozy little wine bar located inside the Inn.

Guests can enjoy a glass of wine after dinner and its also open to the public.  You can get together with a group of friends, sit and visit while enjoying a glass of wine.

Its beautifully decorated and we were greeted by the sweetest little hostess.  She made sure to dress for the occasion to celebrate our arrival!

The Inn Port actually has a second location as well, across from Newcom Park in Historic Dayton!  The second location is the Inn Port Guesthouse that features a tropical theme!   They also have an apartment on Green Street for guests needing extended stay accommodations.

We wont ever have to search for a place to stay when we return to Dayton!  Were Inn Port guests for life!  So if you're looking for the perfect place to stay in Dayton, be sure to get in touch with Jeff and Leslie at the Inn Port Bed and Breakfast & Suites and book your stay with them!

  1. This looks like so much fun! I wish we could stay at a B&B! The homey atmosphere must be so nice! I love the hot tub!

  2. I love old, historical houses like this. If we had the money, I would love to really fix up an old house and try to recreate its original style.
