Brian The Pekingese & His Fabulous Pajamas Review

We live in Iowa.  And in Iowa, the winters get bitterly cold!  Some of our best days are the ones spent inside, snuggled up in a nice warm blanket in our pajamas.  When the folks from Brian The Pekingese got in touch with me about their super cozy kids pajamas, I was all in for a review!

Brian The Pekingese was started by a family in California.  They realized that a very important part of being a family is spending quality time together.  In their house, the couple of hours before bedtime was always significant because this was their time to enjoy quality time together as a family.  In our house, this is when we all get to be together and tucking Emma into bed at night is always something my husband and I do together.  We also bring Emma up to her room and tuck her in, turn on her lullabies, kiss her goodnight and tell her we love her together.

Brian The Pekingese was inspired by this quality tuck in time and the family dog, Brian.  Brian is a sweet, loving Pekingese who immediately bonded with his new baby human brother as soon as he was born.  The creators of Brian The Pekingese were amazed at how immediately Brian connected with their new baby as soon as they brought him home.  Brian would even come get them when the baby began to fuss or cry.  Brian and his new baby brother were instantly best friends.  So out of this love between baby and puppy dog, Brian The Pekingese and their line of children's pajamas and comfort products came to be.

They sent us a pair of Brian's pajamas in purple and they are honestly my favorite pair of pajamas for Emma.  We got a size 18 month.  In some brands, 18 months is a bit too big now.  Emma is wearing mostly 12 month clothes and a few 18 month items.  But these are perfect!  The material is soft and its stretchy.  Really super soft and comfy!  The arms and legs are a little long on Emma but its perfect because the wrists and ankles have soft stretchy cuffs, so even though they are a bit long, they don't fall down around her feet or hands so she can wear these pajamas for a long long time while shes growing.  These pajamas fit her like a glove!

They also sent us a plush Brian and Emma just loves him!  Hes super soft and snuggley.  Shes been smooching and cuddling him like crazy!  This would make a perfect gift set for a little one in your family this holiday season!   Brian's pajamas are available in Purple Daisy, Pink Daisy, Brown Polka Dots and Blue Polka Dots.

Brian The Pekingese kids pajamas are made in the US from 100% cotton!

Get Cooking With KidKraft Play Kitchens!

My husband is a professional chef and one thing we both look forward to, is teaching Emma how to cook someday.  My husband is a big kid at heart and that's one of the things that I absolutely love about him.  When I was thinking about ways for my two loves to bond and learn and play together, I immediately thought of a play kitchen.  I thought to myself, what better way for Daddy to teach Emma to cook than in her very own kitchen!  That's how KidKraft came into the picture!

KidKraft offers some amazing play sets and learning products and they sent us one of their play kitchens to play with.  The kitchen they sent us was their Master Cook's Kitchen and it is absolutely adorable!

Not only is it colorful and fun, but the quality is just spectacular!  I'm not a big fan of those hard plastic kitchens on the market and our KidKraft kitchen is made of sturdy wood!  Its just lovely!  It features a stove top, oven, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, a telephone, cupboards and pegs spices and utensils and several shelves for storage as well.  Its just the perfect size for little kids too!

We did have to assemble our kitchen and it took a good few hours to do but we are so happy with it!  The finished result is definitely worth the time commitment to assemble it!  Were definitely hooked on KidKraft products now!  Ive heard great things from others moms but experiencing the kitchen in person, it just blew us away!

My husband and Emma made me a special meal of plastic corn and peas today.  Yummy!  Daddy and Emma's new secret special recipe that only Daddy and Emma Bee know.   It was fabulous!  Emma really seems to be in aw with her new kitchen.   The colors and the knobs really grab her attention.   And she can even adjust the temperature of her oven so that she doesn't burn the cookies her and daddy are baking.   Shes still a dainty little thing and shes still a bit young to fully play with her kitchen on her own without mom and dad helping her cook, but this is something shell be able to play with and enjoy for a long long time!  For now, Emma likes to open and close the bottom cupboard, fridge and oven and likes to adjust her temperature knobs.  The temp on the oven is her favorite as of right now.  We started with the kitchen in her bedroom upstairs but ended up moving it downstairs to our family room since shes spending so much time playing with it.  We spend more time in the family room than we do in her bed room.  Maybe now she can cook us a special holiday dinner!

I remember when I was little, play kitchens were pretty popular and I always wanted one but never had one.  I guess this is my way of reliving that dream with Emma.  Of course, the play kitchens that I remember my friends and playmates having when I was little weren't nearly as nice as our KidKraft kitchen!

Not only does KidKraft offer play kitchens but they have lots of other children's furniture, toys and play sets that look like so much fun! They have rockers, doll houses, bedroom furniture, toddler beds and plenty of room decor!

I'm really in love with their outdoor playhouses and toddler beds!  We are big advocates for outdoor play and spending as much time in the summer sun and fresh air as possible.   I remember playing house outside when I was little.  My memories of the make believe worlds from my childhood make me smile from ear to ear whenever I think about the time I spent outside playing with my cousins and neighbor kids.  I cant wait for Emma to get bigger so we can get a KidKraft playhouse and have picnics and play house outside all day long.

Their toddler beds are just beautiful!  Their website has a dollhouse toddler bed and the headboard looks like the inside of a dollhouse.  Babies grow too fast and I am sort of dreading the day that Emma leaves her crib and spends her first night in a toddler bed.  But I think Id feel a little more at ease knowing shes sleeping sound and having sweet dreams in such a beautiful bed.  So well be looking into these beds soon!

I cant wait to fill Emma's Master Cooks Kitchen with "groceries."  We love to recycle and reuse so I've been saving a bunch of plastic food containers for her to use for cooking in her kitchen so well be stocking her fridge with goodies soon!   Our KidKraft kitchen is going to create so many wonderful memories and experiences for our family.  I know when Emma is big, shell be able to think back on the days she spent with Daddy teaching her how to cook.

If you're looking for the perfect holiday or birthday gift, KidKraft has it for sure!  Whether its one of their play kitchens or another product, they have something for every child and family!

Were still LOVING our KidKraft Kitchen!  It looks good as new after a year of playing with it and has been such a fun bonding tool for our family.  We love cooking together in the kitchen!  Little Miss Chef Bee is the best cook ever!

Little Green Pouch Review & Giveaway!

I make all my baby's purees at home.  And she loves her momma's homemade baby food!  When were out and about or when we take a trip to grandma and grandpa's, its a little hard to cart around homemade purees in a quick and clean way.  And if were out and about and shes hungry, its hard to feed her purees in some places without making a huge mess of things.  That's where Little Green Pouches come in and make things so much easier!

Little Green Pouch

Little Green Pouches sent us a Large Starter Kit to try and I love it!  Its great because were being green by reusing them over and over and they make feeding Emma her purees super easy on the go!  Little Green Pouches are easy to use and easy to clean.

Little Green Pouch Starter Kit, LARGE

Little Green Pouches are reusable food pouches for babies and small children.  But honestly, they are great for big kids and adults too!  The Large Starter Kit comes with everything you need!  It comes with 4 reusable food pouches, a heavy duty brush for cleaning pouches, a collapsible funnel for filling pouches, a roll of dissolvable content and date labels, a 4 pack of extra caps AND 4 silicone spout extenders!

My favorite accessory for Little Green Pouches is the silicone spout extenders.  I've used other brands of pouches that are similar, but the others I've tried don't have these spout extenders and because of the hard  material that the spouts are made of, others brands are only recommended for bigger kids, not babies and toddlers.  But Little Green Pouches silicone spout extenders allow you to add a soft silicone attachment to the spout so that babies can use these pouches.  These are fantastic for little ones who are just starting purees.  You can add the silicone attachment so they can eat right from the pouch or you just use the pouch to carry purees or cereals on the go and easily dispense them into a bowl for spoon feeding.  We love them!

Little Green Pouch Starter Kit, LARGE

The dissolvable labels are great because I can keep track of what is in each pouch but the label quickly dissolves in the sink while I'm washing them so I can add a new label on the next time I use them.

And the pouches are made of a durable, BPA-free, PVC and phthalate-free plastic so you don't have to worry about all of those nasty materials we often find in plastic containers.   The pouches are dishwasher safe as long as you place them on the top rack and they are freezer safe too!  Each Little Green Pouch can hold up to 7 ounces.  These would make a perfect baby shower gift or a great holiday gift for parents!

The Little Green Pouch website also has a page full of recipes for making your own baby purees and Little Green Pouch meals!  Be sure to check it out!  You can also LIKE Little Green Pouch on Facebook and follow them on Twitter!

Inn Port Bed and Breakfast & Suites in Dayton, Ohio - Desintation Review

We recently had the opportunity to travel to Dayton, Ohio for the very first time, to help a couple of our dearest friends celebrate their wedding.

Since this was our first trip to Dayton, we wanted to find the perfect place to stay.  We always prefer staying at Inns and Bed and Breakfasts over hotels because we love the at home atmosphere.  During my search I stumbled upon the Inn Port D'Vino Bed and Breakfast.  It looked perfect!  The building was historical and gorgeous, located in the old historic district of downtown Dayton.  And when I emailed the innkeeper about booking a room for two nights, she was so friendly and inviting, I just knew this was the place to stay!

The Inn Port is owned and run by Leslie and Jeff Gonya.  When I first spoke to Leslie in person it was like I was getting together with and old friend to catch up.  She was so delightful and so welcoming that I knew we would feel right at home at the Inn Port.   The Inn Port D'Vino Bed and Breakfast is a beautiful Victorian home that was built in 1877 by Dayton's master builder, John Rouzer.   He is credited for building many of Dayton's historical buildings.

We stayed in the Champagne Suite and I must tell you, this is not your typical room.  We literally had what felt like a house all to ourselves!  It was cozy and clean and so spacious!  You wouldn't believe the space we had all to ourselves and the room rate is fantastic!

We had a living room and dining area, large bedroom with a cozy king sized bed, a full sized kitchen, bathroom and a hot tub room!

One of favorite parts about our suite, was the fact that we had our own full kitchen.  Complete with everything we needed!

There was a full sized refrigerator and freezer, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven, full sized oven and stove and of course sink for dishes.

The kitchen had pots and pans and all of the cooking utensils we would need if we wanted to cook along with dishes and silverware.  The kitchen also came fully stocked with food items for breakfast, snacks and soda as well.   There were bagels and English muffins, jellies and other condiments, as well as yogurt, eggs, orange juice and milk, bottled water and soda.  In the cabinets we had cereal and pop tarts.  I decided to make my husband breakfast in bed while we were there and it was delightful!  Its been a long time since we were able to sit and have a nice quite breakfast together at the table.   It was a true home away from home experience!
The other thing we loved about our suite.....was the hot tub!  Full sized hot tub and in a separate hot tub room with lights you could dim, a CD player to play relaxing music and plenty of aromatherapy.

With an 8 month old at home, its hard enough for me to find time at home to take a quick bath, let alone a bubble bath.  I'm pretty much restricted to a 5 minute shower.  So being able to soak and relax in the hot tub every night before bed was just amazing!  I came home feeling so refreshed and rejuvenated!

The main part of the building, where the rest of the suites and rooms are located, has a beautiful sitting room where you can sit, read, relax and enjoy the fireplace and play a few old records.

There is also a large dining room fully stocked with breakfast foods, snacks, coffee, a refrigerator stocked with goodies, beverages and its all included in your stay.  There is plenty of room for seating to sit and enjoy your coffee, meal and enjoy the morning paper.

There is plenty of parking for guests and the parking is off street.  The Inn Port B+B is located along a residential street in the historic district so the surrounding homes are just lovely!  And its just around the corner from the shops and restaurants in the historic district.  Its literally a one minute walk to the shops!

The Inn Port is also the home of Deaf Monte's Wine Bar, a cozy little wine bar located inside the Inn.

Guests can enjoy a glass of wine after dinner and its also open to the public.  You can get together with a group of friends, sit and visit while enjoying a glass of wine.

Its beautifully decorated and we were greeted by the sweetest little hostess.  She made sure to dress for the occasion to celebrate our arrival!

The Inn Port actually has a second location as well, across from Newcom Park in Historic Dayton!  The second location is the Inn Port Guesthouse that features a tropical theme!   They also have an apartment on Green Street for guests needing extended stay accommodations.

We wont ever have to search for a place to stay when we return to Dayton!  Were Inn Port guests for life!  So if you're looking for the perfect place to stay in Dayton, be sure to get in touch with Jeff and Leslie at the Inn Port Bed and Breakfast & Suites and book your stay with them!

Santa Sent Emma A Letter!

Santa sent Emma Bee a letter in the mail!

I found the perfect holiday keepsake for Emma and its going to be a new Christmas tradition!  There is this amazing website called Santa Sent Me A Letter, that allows you to create a personalized letter from Santa Clause and have it sent to your little ones!

The folks at provided us with a North Pole Package to review!

The package comes with a personalized letter from Santa, address to miss Emma and the letter even has Santa's official seal on the back.  It also comes with Santa's official Nice List ID Card and a beautiful magical key.  The key is so that Santa can get in our house to deliver presents since we don't have a chimney.  The key is my favorite part of the package!

My husband and I are going to make it a yearly tradition to leave Santa's key out along with his Christmas cookies and milk

The website is so easy and simple to use when placing your order.  It walks you through the process of customizing your letter.  There are also numerous letter templates to pick from with different text.  We picked the one for Baby's First Christmas since this is Emma Bee's very first Christmas.

Well be putting the letter in a special keepsake box for Emma and we can get it out every year.  Maybe shell save the letter and someday read it to her little ones to show them the special letter that Santa wrote to her on her very first Christmas.

This is such a fun and special keepsake and would make a great gift!  When the letter arrives, it arrives addressed to your little one and doesn't come with a packing slip or copy of the order so it looks completely authentic.  This would be a great gift to send to a family member or friend's child who is not expecting a letter from Santa Claus himself!

You can order your own letter by visiting
