What is it? Well, its a big waterproof metal canister packed full of seeds. The can contains about 22,000 non-GMO, non-hybrid seeds that can be planted on one acre or less. The seeds are a variety of different vegetables that can grow in various garden environments and there are 16 varieties of seeds. Each type of seed is packaged in its own sealed triple layer foil bag that is actually resealable too. And the cool thing is that each container is guaranteed to safely store seeds for up to 4 years! Pretty cool!
Now the purpose of the Back 40 Survival Seed Vault is just like it sounds....survival. The point is that if you ever find yourself in a situation where you have no food and no means to acquire food, these seeds will allow you to grow enough food to feed a family of 4 for a whole year in an emergency state that causes a disruption in food distribution. Ok...so I personally am not really into the whole stocking up for a severe emergency survival situation BUT.....I do know what its like to suddenly find myself in a drastically different living situation and now being afraid of how I will feed my family. I was there. I lost my job and was suddenly thrown into having to figure out how to make means and survive. And now being a single income family, my gardening has gone from a hobby to a bit of a necessity. So I do think this thing is pretty handy. Plus...its a good deal for all of the seeds and a great way to store them for when you need them! Pretty much all of the seeds included in the vault are vegetables that I would normally plant in my garden and vegetables that my family loves!
And guess what?
