Tips and Remedies for Natural Infant Teething Relief

Little Miss Emma Bee now has 4 toothies!   Two on top and two on bottom.  Shes such a cutie with her fancy new teeth!  Emma Bee has come a long way in her teething journey.  Shes been doing great!  Very little fussing and I think we've managed to get her through it so far with minimal discomfort thanks to some natural remedies I've discovered along my natural mommy journey.  I wanted to share some of my tips and remedies with you in case you're needing a little help with pain relief during your baby's teething journey.

Natural Tips For Teething Relief:

I am a big supporter of using Baltic Amber for pain relief!  You can read my review of Malia Claire's Baltic Amber Teething Necklaces.

Some of the science behind Baltic Amber:

Baltic amber is actually fossilized tree resin that was formed millions of years ago.  It washes up on the shores of the Baltic Sea.  Baltic Amber jewelry is great for reliving pain and inflammation and can also help ease discomfort and pain from arthritis, carpal tunnel, muscle aches, headaches, menstrual cramps, tooth pain, growing pains and pain from teething, joint pain and ear aches just to name a few things.  All of these pain relief qualities are attributed to the succinic acid in the amber.  Your body heat releases the acid as the amber is worn against bare skin.  The acid then absorbs into the skin and circulates through  your bloodstream and acts as a natural anti-inflammatory and analgesic.  This succinic acid is also said to help boost the immune system.

So with all of Baltic Amber's general pain relief benefits, we decided to try a Baltic Amber teething necklace for Emma and noticed right away that her irritability decreases, her pre-tooth gnawing was less frequent and her mood just seems to significantly improve!  She also never grabs at her necklace or tries to take it off and the length is perfect so she is unable to get it in her mouth.  Plus, each amber bead is individually beaded so it the necklace does happen to break, it wont spill beads everywhere.  We've had Emma Bee's amber necklace for at least 5 months now and the cord is still strong and holding up well!

Emma Bee has found significant relief from cold!  We've used a cold, moistened washed cloth to help sooth her swollen gums.  We let her suck and gnaw on the wash cloth and its eased her irritability and helped calm her gum pain on a number of occasions!

We've also used cold teethers.  These teethers usually contain fluid so you can place them in the freezer and give them to your baby to chew on.  They have provided Emma with some comfort but for us, they typical melt quickly loosing the effectiveness.  But we've seen several different styles of these freezable teethers so I'm sure you could find something that works well for your baby.

One remedy we had been told about by other moms are homeopathic teething tablets.   We've tried these and seemed to have some relief when we gave them to Emma Bee.  Hylands Tablets for example, are small tablets that quickly dissolve under the tongue or in baby's bottle.  They are said to provide a natural relief of teething pain and irritability and from our experience,.  The Hylands Tablets package states that they are paraban free.

One great way to help sooth teething discomfort is massaging baby's face and chin and areas around their mouth. Just like a good massage can help sooth sore muscles and aches, gently massaging your baby's face in a soft circular motion can help sooth, calm and relax baby.  We've done this for Emma Bee and it especially helps before bedtime, to help sooth her pain and calm her as well.

If you have any other natural teething tips and remedies, please leave a comment and share with us!

Be sure to consult your child's pediatrician about teething remedies and other health and wellness concerns.  These are methods that have worked for our family in our personal experiences.  I am not a physician.  What works for us may not work for you.

These Bees LOVE Buttons! Buttons Cloth Diapers Wetbag & Flushable Bamboo Liners Review

By any chance, do you remember my review of Buttons Cloth Diapers that I published back in November?  Well, in case you don't, I recommend you read it because we had the opportunity to try a Buttons Diaper Cover and inserts and loved them!  They are by far the softest cloth cover we've ever tried and the inserts were great too!

Well in addition to our favorite covers, Buttons Cloth Diapers is now carrying wetbags!  They sent us one to try and its my favorite!  I have another brand and its not nearly as nice as our Buttons wetbag.

We got the Large Wetbag in the Apple color.  I love the polka dots!   My favorite feature is the double pockets.  There is a large main pocket with a zipper closure that is waterproof to keep wet and soiled diapers in.  But on the outside, there is another pocket separate from the main one that also has a zipper closure.  If were traveling or out and about for the day, I can use the front pocket to keep clean diapers and clean cloth wipes in and use the other pocket to store the soiled ones in until we get home.  I love it!

We sent this bag along to Grandma's house while Emma Bee was staying there while I had my surgery and it was really handy for Grandma to use while Emma Bee was there!  The wetbag also has a handy dandy snap strap so you can attach it to a stroller, hang it on a towel rack, a door knob or hook.

Did you know that Buttons Diapers also carries Flushable Diaper Liners too?  They are made of a super soft bamboo.  You simply place a liner in the diaper and toss it in the toilet when you change baby into a clean diaper.  They flush so easily and are biodegradable so they'll break down!

These have been a life saver since my surgery.  Normally I am 100% in charge of diaper laundry at our house.   My husband has never washed a load of cloth diapers.  We usually use fleece liners and wash them with our diapers.  I like the fleece because it helps guard our diapers from poo stains and its easier in my opinion to get poo off of liners than the diapers.  But I was really worried about how my husband would do washing poopy cloth diapers while I was recuperating.  My mother ended up doing all of our diaper laundry but the liners were still nice because shes been doing a lot to help take care of me and Emma and help around the house so it was nice not having to burden her with having to scrub poop with my washboard.  So we tried the flushable bamboo liners from Buttons and it made diaper laundry super easy!   It made it easier for her to just throw everything in the wash.

The liners come in a roll of 100 perforated liners so they are easy to grab and go.  They 11.5 x 6.5 and are just the right size to fit with Buttons diapers and other brands too.  We've used them all day, every day since I came home from the hospital and they have worked with every brand of cloth diaper we have.  They are unscented and biodegradable.  Not only do they protect your diapers from poo stains but they help guard diapers from diaper rash creams as well!

So if you're looking for a new wetbag and some great liners, then I recommend checking out Buttons Cloth Diapers online for some great cloth diapers and accessories!  You can also LIKE Buttons Cloth Diapers on Facebook and follow them on Twitter as well!

SodaStream Review & Giveaway!

My husband has an addiction to soda pop.  And he can drink a lot of soda if we have it in the house.  But since we have a tight budget we rarely buy it these days.  But I heard about this cool product that allows you to make your own soda.  You've probably seen or heard of it because its becoming quite popular.  Its called the SodaStream!
Mr. Bee told me that he would love to try a SodaStream and save us some money on his soda habit.  So the folks at SodaStream were gracious enough to send us a SodaStream Source to try and I'll have to admit, I am pretty impressed!

SodaStream has a few different machines that you can get depending on your needs and they have a very wide range of flavors to use to make your beverages.  And its not just soda pop.  They also carry a selection of lemonades, fruit drinks and flavors for sparkling water as well.

The SodaStream was pretty easy to use and simple to figure out.  It didn't require much preparation at all.  We just set it up and got started.

All you do is fill up the bottle with tap water up to the fill line, insert the bottle, press down on the top till the light indicates the level of carbonation you want, add in your flavor and you're done!

As you can see, Mr. Bee was super excited about making his own soda pop!!!

The kit came with several different samples of flavors but you can also get large bottles of flavors. The samples that came with the kit each make 1 liter.  The large bottles hold enough flavor mix to make dozens of liters of soda!

One of my favorite things about the SodaStream is the fact that we can use reusable bottles to make our soda and were conserving by not creating tons and tons of waste from plastic soda bottles and pop cans!

So far our favorite flavors are orange and pink grapefruit.  The pink grapefruit tastes just like Ruby Red Squirt which is one of our favorite sodas so we were pretty happy!

Be sure to check out SodaStream online!  You can also LIKE them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter and Pinterest too!

And theres something else you are going to love.......
