Nursery Necessities Waterproof Crib Mattress Cover Review

I have a 2 year old.  And 2 years olds can be messy.  They can't help it.  From accidental spills to spaghetti purposefully thrown across the room, to leaky diapers and barfing during the night.  As a mom, I am no stranger to these things.  One thing that I learned about early on, was to always have a waterproof layer between my kiddo and her mattress. I learned that the hard way.  Picture my daughters mattress out in the backyard soaking in the summer sun, covered with baking soda to get rid of barf smell.  Yeah....that was fun.  So I learned to always have a few waterproof mattress protectors on hand at all times!

I was sent a Waterproof Crib Mattress Cover from Nursery Necessities to review.  It did the job.  Wasn't anything special but did protect my kiddo's mattress.  I actually had this on her bed one night when she happened to get sick in the night.  My daughter randomly throws up in the night.  I don't know how many 3 am baths we've had after my sweetie has woken up and puked all over her bed.  Its no fun.  But its less unpleasant if I have something over her mattress to keep moisture from getting to it.  If I can just take off the wet bedding and cover a clean dry mattress with new bedding, it takes far less time in the night to get her back to bed.  I had this mattress cover on when she threw up and the mattress was dry and protected underneath.

The waterproof backing is just really thin looking.  The cover as a whole is not very thick and fluffy.   Its a basic cover.  I'm not sure what the waterproof backing is made of.  It looks like thin plastic wrap but claims to be vinyl/PVC-free, lead-free, BPA-free, phthalate-free, dye-free, hypoallergenic, and prevents against bacteria, mold and dust mites.  So it all sounds good....just not much to look at.   So I guess well see after I wash it a few more times.  Its held up so far after one wash to my surprise and like I said, it did the job it was supposed to do.  Just wish it was a little more heavy duty and a little fluffier to lay on.  I'll keep using it because its functional, but it'll probably be my backup when my other ones are in the wash.  The sale price is $35 on Amazon but I definitely would not pay $35 for it.  I have about 4 others that are much better quality and were about half this price.  On of those is even organic cotton.  I think if the price was cut in half, it would be a good value for the product you get.

I was provided with a sample free of charge to facilitate this review.  All opinions are my own.
